How Many Players Go to The World Cup?

The World Cup is the highest level football competition which is organized by FIFA every four years. It was first introduced in 1930 and Uruguay became the first host of the FIFA World Cup in football history as well as the first winner. Since then, it has been held every four years and FIFA World Cup 2022 is going to be the 22nd World Cup. The 2022 World Cup is going to be held in Qatar, and it’s the first time it’ll be played in an Arab World Country. The tournament will begin from November 20 and run till December 18. 32 teams are going to play in the World Cup representing six different regions on the planet. 

How many players will go to the World Cup?

The World Cup is a stage in the football World that everybody wants to go to for once at least. Every nation which qualifies for the world cup was required to submit their 26 players squads to FIFA by November 14 and FIFA would finalize the list of players for the FIFA World Cup on November 15. Some of the teams submitted their squads before time. These squads used to be a 23-players team until FIFA World Cup 2022 and now it’s increased to 26-players squad including three goalkeepers. 

Before this round of squad qualification, one release list of players between 35 and 55 was also submitted to FIFA by every participant nation that included. This was supposed to happen by October 21, 2022 and the final list of 26 and minimum 23 players was released by FIFA on its official website on November 15. 

It was on June 23, 2022, when the Bureau of the FIFA Council approved the increase of football squad members in the release list (33 to 35) and final list (23 to 26). Another factor that affected this was the timing of the tournament in the football calendar and completely disturbing impacts of COVID 19. 

One thing that’s exceptional in the FIFA World Cups is that there is no age restriction for players to play in the competition. Skills and playing style are all that matter. 

Which players are gonna show in FIFA World Cup Qatar?

If we actually calculate, there is a very long list of players who are going to appear in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Every nation will come up with at least 23 players. So, let’s take a look at which major players are going to show up and who people are expecting a lot from. FIFA World Cup 2022 will see some of the biggest names in football World including Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne and Robert Lewandowski.

The 30 years old professional footballer also plays for the Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain which is considered as one of the most successful and popular football clubs in the world. He is the player with second most caps (121) after Dani Alves in the whole Brazilian squad for the tournament. 

Christiano RonaldoCristiano Ronaldo

Christiano Ronaldo is considered the legend of football. He hails from Portugal and was born on February 5, 1985. The 37 years old football champion has made everyone crazy. He is the player of Portugal’s team with the most caps (191). The Portuguese legend will be serving as captain for the Portuguese team in the FIFA World Cup Qatar. Apart from serving for the nation, he has also played for the clubs and currently he is enrolled with Manchester United. 

Son Heung minHeung Min Son

Son Heung Min is a South Korean professional footballer who is considered as one of the greatest football players in the world. As the South Korean team is set to play in the World Cup, they proposed their final squad on November 12, 2022 and Son Heung min will be leading the team. Heung min has 104 caps to his name and Scored 35 goals. 

Born in July, 1992, Son Heung-min plays as a forward for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and serves as captain of South Korean National football team. Known for his finishing, explosive speed, two footedness and ability to link play, Son Heung-min is considered one of the greatest forwards on the planet and stands as one of the greatest Asian footballers in the world of football.

He plays as a forward for the National team. Born on January 24, 1987, the footballer has 134 caps to his name and scored 68 goals. Born on June 24, 1987 in Argentina, the footballer plays as a forward for the Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Argentina National football team. In this world cup, he will serve as a captain for the team representing Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. The most popular name in football has 165 caps to his name.  

Other than these players, many more successful footballers will be playing in the FIFA World Cup including Julian Alvarez (Argentina), Carlos Rodriguez (Mexico), Robert Lewandowski (Captain of Poland team), etc.

Which players are going to be absent from the World Cup?

Some Major names in football are not going to appear in the FIFA World Cup. FIFA Qatar will not feature them because their teams couldn’t qualify for the tournament. Here is a list of these big names who will be absent from the World Cup.
