When will World Cup Qatar 2022 take place?

It is known that the World Cup will be held in the year 2022 but the exact dates are still unrevealed. Here we are to announce that FIFA World Cup 2022 is all set to be played from 20 November to 18 December.  The beginning of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be from the group phase in which the above -mentioned 8 groups will come face to face. This phase will be played from 20 November to 2 December. The knockout phase will start with the round of 16 from 3-6 December. After a predicted Break of 2-3 days quarter finals will be played on 9 and 10 December. The playoff for third place will be disclosed on 17 December, one day before the final. 

This is the second time the World Cup has been held in Asia after the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea. It is also the last tournament involving 32 teams because this number has been increased to 48 for World Cup 2026 and its onwards. 

Why is the World Cup 2022 scheduled to be played in November?

If you are a regular viewer of FIFA World Cups you must know that it is usually held in the months of May June or July or in the Northern autumn. But this time the schedule is completely changed. Why? The reason is very clear. Qatar is a middle east country which is known for their utmost exposure to sun. In the mid months of the year, the country is heaten up to a different level. In order to prevent players, officials and everyone else related to the game from excess heat, the world cup is set to be held from mid-November to mid-December. At this time the weather is cooler as the winter season comes in. 

The first match of the event will be played between the host nation Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium. You will be shocked to know that the beginning and ending of the World Cup will mark something special. The nation will play the first match and become the ice breaker while on 8 December final will take place which is also the Qatar National day.  

Questioning the legitimacy of World Cup in Qatar

In May 2011, the allegations of corruption within the FIFA senior officials raised a question on the legitimacy of FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Qatar’s victory in taking the right to host the 2022 World cup 2022 has been related with the accusations of corruption. To make it clear a FIFA internal investigation committee was constituted to investigate Qatar’s corruption. And a report cleared Qatar of any violation or accusations. 

But the committee chief  Michael J. Claimed that the FIFA inquiry report contained some incomplete and false representations. In 2015 Swiss federal prosecutors again opened an investigation into corruption within the 2018 World Cup bids. On August 6, 2018 former FIFA president Sepp Blatter claimed that Qatar has used black ops to win the right to host world cup 2022. He also said that the bid committee has cheated in order to win these hosting rights. Shortly afterwards, Qatar had to face criticism from the workers busy with World Cup Preparations on the grounds of forced labor and poor working conditions.

Concluding all of this, one thing is made clear that Qatar had to face a lot of challenges to get this opportunity to host the FIFA World Cup 2022.
